After slightly more than 2-and-a-half years of 888Sport presence in its first U.S. legal sports betting market in the state of New Jersey, the company will spread its wings into the Indiana, Colorado and Iowa during the 2021 calendar year.
The decision for the joint U.K. and Gibraltar headquartered company to expand deeper into the U.S. sports betting marketplace comes after an excellent year for 888. The 888 results in the U.S. market have increased by approximately 90% in the first 10 months of the year, driven most by its excellent New Jersey sportsbook, 888Sport and its associated 888Casino. Both sites are accessible through the same platform in New Jersey, and in the Garden State, 888Poker is the third arm, just one click away.
The decision is open simply with the 888Sport brand in the three new states in 2021 is a common sense approach given the great sets of betting handle numbers being generated by Indiana and Iowa, and six consecutive months of record growth in the Colorado sports betting market.
The details of the 888 launch in the 3 states
In the Mile-High State, the 888Sport online sportsbook will launch under the license of the Colorado Grande Casino based in Cripple Creek, Colorado.
In Iowa, 888Sport will open and operate under the license of Catfish Bend Casinos II LLC.
Indiana’s 888Sport platform has signed an agreement for licensing and launch with Harrah’s Hoosier Park, which is owned by Caesars Entertainment, to launch the 888Sport online sportsbook in the Hoosier State.
The three 888Sport agreements represent the latest growth spurts in the 888-corporate strategy in the developing U.S online gaming market and will increase the number of U.S. states where 888 has an operating presence to six.
888 Chief Executive Officer, Itai Pazner, happily went on the record by announcing;
“We are delighted to sign these agreements with three great partners – the Colorado Grande Casino, Catfish Bend Casino II LLC, and Harrah’s Hoosier Park – that will enable 888 to bring its first-class online sportsbook to bettors in Colorado, Iowa and Indiana. The US online betting and gaming market has huge growth potential, and we continue to build a strong platform for growth across both our B2B and B2C operations.” Panzer said.
888 company growth related to the Global Pandemic?
Additionally, after announcing the three new state agreements, 888 also issued a trading update explaining continuing strong operational results during the second half of the 2020 financial year.
The excellent results 888 noted, were a direct reflection of the group’s high levels of customer acquisition during 2019 and 2020, and increased awareness on safe and responsible gambling, player protections and new product and promotion releases.
Without directly mentioning the customer shift away from land-based sportsbooks to online sportsbooks due to casino closures and continuing global pandemic restrictions, 888 did mention the growth benefits from the ongoing structural shift in consumer behavior towards exclusively online services.
According to Yaniv Sherman, Senior Vice-President of 888 Commercial Development;
“Expanding 888Sport.com into these three states represents another major milestone in our ongoing growth across the regulated US online gaming market. We have deployed our proprietary technology in the US, and our exciting pipeline of new products will deliver industry-leading propositions to customers across both our B2B and B2C operations. We continue to appraise strategic partnerships that will provide additional brand-building and market access opportunities for 888 across the US market in the near future.” Sherman said.
An excellent upgrade to the 888 desktop and mobile app Poker platform and becoming official broadcasting sponsor for the English Premier League on NBC Sport, highlights the company’s deeper integration in the U.S. market.
