Michigan & Detroit an Important Piece of the BetMGM Marketing Puzzle
Clearly, BetMGM is going through a big push at the sports betting market in Michigan. The announcement of this current deal with the Tigers has come on the back of BetMGM doing similar deals with Michigan’s NHL team, the Detroit Red Wings and the NFL franchise in Michigan, the Detroit Lions. Both of those deals also placed in-stadium marketing and signage as a prominent part of the respective marketing pushes, with BetMGM trademarks now visible in the Lion’s Ford Field home and the Red Wings home at Little Caesars Arena.
Another critical part of the BetMGM push in Michigan has been signing up local sports betting legends to brand ambassadorships, such as Detroit Lions legendary running back Barry Sanders joining the BetMGM team to participate in MGM Resorts’ M life Rewards loyalty members in private and public events, which will be done both in-person and virtually.
BetMGM looks forward to the baseball-dominated summer
The partnership with the Tigers keeps BetMGM in the public gaze throughout summer and arrives immediately after BetMGM followed up on its January launch of online sports betting and its online casino in Michigan, by adding online poker to its stable in the state this month.
David Tsai, MGM Resorts’ Midwest President, added that the state’s bricks-and-mortar sportsbook will also benefit from the deal: “The Detroit Tigers are a central part of the Michigan sports scene and bring an undeniable energy to the city.
“All of us at MGM Grand Detroit are ready to enthusiastically welcome Tigers and sports betting fans to our BetMGM Sports Lounge, before, during, and after games and provide an opportunity to experience America’s pastime in the most innovative and exciting way possible,” the MGM boss said.
