Not content with its planned domination of the sports betting market in the Garden State of New Jersey, leading online sportsbook, William Hill, has launched versions of its sports wagering platform in Colorado and West Virginia. The launch comes just in time for the beginning of the 2020/21 NFL season and now brings William Hill to a total of five states in which they offer their online sports betting products, the other two being Nevada and Iowa to become the third largest sportsbook operator in the United States today.

West Virginia kicks off the William Hill launch fest

West Virginia kicked off the William Hill launches on September 4, followed by the Mile-High State of Colorado on September 9. Although there are no major professional teams in the state, college sports — in particular the West Virginia University basketball and football programs — will assist in propelling sports betting forward in the Mountain State. In an official statement for the launch of the West Virginia sportsbook, William Hill wrote;

William Hill US, America’s leading sports book operator, today launched its William Hill Sports Book App and website in West Virginia. Available for use from anywhere in the Mountain State, the updated William Hill mobile app (and companion website version) offers a seamless betting experience that is easy and fast.”

With the dual launches within 5 days of each other, William Hill is increasing its foothold on the U.S. sports betting market with online sports betting available now in both West Virginia and Colorado on PCs, Macs, laptops, smartphones, tablets and all other mobile devices. The high-quality William Hill sports betting app is available to all sports bettors in the two states across both iOS and Android platforms.

As an international sportsbook, there’s a wide array of global sports to bet on at William Hill to accompany the usual U.S. sport staples, NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, College Basketball, College Football and UFC.

Colorado continues the William Hill launching party

William Hill have also chosen an excellent time to launch in the Mile-High State of Colorado. In a state with professional teams across all four major sports leagues, (The Colorado Rockies – MLB, Denver Nuggets – NBA, Denver Broncos – NFL and the Colorado Avalanche – NHL), the Mile-High State’s sports wagering industry potential is off the charts.

Since the May 1 legal sports betting launch in the Mile High State of Colorado, the number of online sports betting operators has increased threefold and there are now eight retail operators, according to the official statistics released from Colorado Division of Gaming.

Total sports betting handle wagered in July 2020 was $59.2 million, a 55% increase on the previous month’s $38.1 million for June 2020.

Of that July 2020 sports betting total handle, $58.6 million, or 99%, was generated from online betting platforms. To put those figures in context, in May’s first full betting month for Colorado, the state had $25.5 million in total sports betting handle. The August handle is bound to increase as the NHL and NBA joined MLB in offering full schedules for the full month.

Fast forward to September, and William Hill could very well dominate the sports betting market in Colorado from the get-go of the beginning of the brand-new NFL season. According to William Hill USA Chief Executive Officer, Joe Asher, in the media release for the brand’s Colorado sportsbook;

Colorado is home to some of the most dedicated sports fans in the country, who have been counting down the days until the NFL season begins. We share in their excitement and look forward to introducing our mobile offerings to fans across the Centennial State.” Asher explained.
