DraftKings, one of the leading online sportsbooks in the state of New Jersey, has agreed to a partnership deal with influential MMA outfit, the Professional Fighters League (PFL). While the PFL does not yet have the profile of the UFC, the deal is nonetheless important as the viewership of all MMA organizations is growing rapidly. DraftKings agreed to the multiyear deal with the mixed martial arts company to become its official online sportsbook and Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) provider, with the agreement said to be worth at just under $10 million. “The winners in this partnership are MMA fans, first with fantasy and eventually gaming,’” said Donn Davis, Chairman and Co-Founder of the PFL, “PFL is re-imagining MMA, and we look forward to collaborating with DraftKings to offer new engagement for fans while creating new revenue streams for our business,” he said. DraftKings Live Odds to Become a Feature of PFL Telecasts Sports bettors in New Jersey and across other legal sports betting states will now be permitted to place legal wagers on bouts in the PFL after the DraftKings strategic partnership announcement. Under the agreement with the PFL, the DraftKings logo will be placed around the league’s fighting cages and the online sportsbook’s betting odds will be integrated into the PFL broadcasts featured on Disney’s ESPN network, and DraftKings will offer a strong online promotion of the league. Wagers on all PFL bouts will be able to be placed in those states like New Jersey where online sports betting is currently legal. MMA has more than 290 million fans across the globe and continues to grow strongly domestically and internationally. To serve this burgeoning and massive MMA fan base, DraftKings and the PFL are effectively reshaping the MMA fan sports entertainment experience through this creative partnership. The two companies will create exclusive, themed content across both the organizations’ social and digital platforms. Data will drive the New PFL Viewer Experience DraftKings announced that the partnership would provide MMA fans with a unique viewing and wagering experience, with the use of PFL’s SmartCage technology allow for the capture and display of real-time fighter data and analytics such as fighter tracking, heart rate, punch speed and caloric burn. The leading New Jersey sportsbook operator said that utilizing this type of data will eventually allow it to provide bettors with innovative prop bets, such as whether a fighter will land a punch exceeding 25 miles per hour in speed, or not. “We are excited to further our relationship with the Professional Fighters League as their first official betting and daily fantasy partner,” said Ezra Kucharz, Chief Business Officer of DraftKings. “MMA is mainstream. Back in March, DraftKings became the official sportsbook and DFS partner of the world’s largest and most popular MMA organization, the UFC. Just few weeks later, DraftKings signed an agreement to become the official DFS and gaming partner of WWE, the popular pro-wrestling entertainment promoter.
