Sports bettors in the state of New Jersey have a new, but familiar face to welcome into their sports betting world.
FanDuel Online Sportsbook New Jersey recently announced an exclusive content deal with Sports Emmy Award-winning analyst and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer, NBA great ‘Sir’ Charles Barkley. Barkley will appear exclusively in FanDuel advertising and Turner Sports promotions, featuring in FanDuel’s free to play contests and he will provide content for FanDuel’s social media channels and make guest appearances and expert analysis on the company’s affiliated podcasts and television programs.

Back in July, FanDuel Group became the exclusive sports betting provider for Turner Sports’ NBA programming and at the time, Charles Barkley took the time to educate his co-hosts on Inside the NBA, along with millions of viewers, with his Sports Betting 101 segments, breaking down the practice into understandable everyday parlance. One of the highlights of each broadcast was the integration of FanDuel Sportsbook odds, and the introduction of what he called the “Charles Barkley Guarantee.” Barkley’s entertaining segments went viral on social media and will continue to be a big part of the FanDuel partnership.

Never shy to express his opinion on any topic, the outspoken Barkley is one of the most recognizable sports analysts in the United States today, and his ‘brand’ is growing beyond his broadcasting life. Last month he competed in “The Match III,” a one-off golf event where he teamed with three-time USA PGA Masters champion Phil Mickelson to defeat former NFL quarterback great Peyton Manning and NBA Star Stephen Curry in a single match-play format that has been high earner for sportsbooks in past versions such as the Tiger Woods/Manning/Tom Brady/Mickelson match-up.
Barkley loves to place a wager, but like us all, he has had his losses too. In February 2017, he famously lost $100,000 live-on-air betting on the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI when the New England Patriots recorded that unbelievable comeback from a 28-3 deficit to win in overtime.
Momentum for his agreement with FanDuel gathered pace earlier this year when the two sides collaborated for the “Charles Barkley Guarantee,” in which Barkley would offer his picks on NBA games on Turner programming.
