Alongside their partners in the Garden State, FanDuel, global sportsbook, PointsBet, makes up the leading sportsbook team in New Jersey. The brand had a big day recently by announcing a multiyear strategic partnership deal with Hockey’s NHL.
The deal will see the leading online bookmaker announced as an “Official Sports Betting Partner of the NHL” and will span not only across their U.S. home in New Jersey, but also extends across the entire U.S. and even as far afield as the brand’s Australian global headquarters.
For their part of the deal, PointsBet has secured the rights to use NHL logos and trademarks, in addition to promotional and sponsorship opportunities for the brand.
The agreement will also allow for PointsBet to participate in placing its advertising content into live NHL game broadcasts with all of the league’s media partners, such as NBC Sports, NBC Sports Regional, Altitude TV and a range of other official NHL media channels. That part of the deal comes after NBC itself secured a 4.9% stake in the global sportsbook earlier in summer 2020.
The ongoing 2020-21 NHL season has already seen some of the new partnership’s work incorporated into the league’s game telecasts, with PointsBet odds, data and betting market insights being shown live before, during and after selected NHL games.

An official representative for the NHL, Ken Wachtel, the league’s Chief Business Officer and Senior Executive Vice President spoke enthusiastically of the PointsBet partnership;

Chief Executive Officer of PointsBet’s USA arm, Johnny Aitken gave the deal the thumbs-up;

Although, no dollar figure of the deal has been released by either party, the value of the strategic agreement is figured by sports betting industry experts to be in the $500 million range.
