Denver vs. Dallas, NBA Betting Predictions, March 13

The Denver Nuggets return home on a five-game winning streak as they host the Dallas Mavericks. There is a bit of uncertainty in the lineup for the Mavericks after Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis missed Dallas’ loss to Oklahoma City with injury maintenance concerns. If they can’t play Saturday night, it’ll be tough to imagine the Mavericks being able to slow down the red-hot Nuggets on their own floor.

Nuggets vs. Mavericks Betting Odds

The Denver Nuggets try to run their winning streak to six games Saturday night as they host the Dallas Mavericks. Jamal Murray really struggled Friday in Memphis, but Denver persevered to keep the momentum it had entering the All-Star break going as the Nuggets returned. That was not the case for Dallas, which had won four straight before the pause then lost in Oklahoma City on Thursday with Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis sitting out to rest injuries. That leaves a giant bubble of uncertainty over Saturday’s contest because Doncic and Porzingis make a world of difference for the Mavericks.

Despite scoring just three points on 1-of-14 shooting in the win over Memphis, Murray is still averaging 21.8 points per game this season. He did dip slightly below 40 percent shooting from behind the arc after making just one of his five 3-point attempts, but Murray is unlikely to have two such performances in a row. And if he does, there’s also the reliable Nikola Jokic, who is now averaging 27.1 points, 11 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game in the middle of the Nuggets offense. IN Murray’s place Friday, Will Barton drained five 3-pointers on 10 attempts and Michael Porter Jr. had one of his good games with 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting. That depth is what has allowed the Nuggets to go on this winning streak and look more like the team who made the Western Conference Finals last season.

There was a lot for Dallas to like about its loss in Oklahoma City without its top-two players on the court. Jalen Brunson excelled with 26 points, his second-highest total of the season, while Josh Richardson scored a season-high 27. Tim Hardaway also made a tremendous impact with 24 points off the bench for the Mavericks, and Maxi Kleber knocked down four of his six 3-point attempts. But it is clear that Doncic and Porzingis are the duo that drive the ship for the Mavericks. Doncic leads the team with 28.4 points, 9.1 assists and 8.5 rebounds per game while Porzingis is averaging 20.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Though the Mavericks have proven they can win without one of them on the floor, missing both of them has been too much for this team to handle.

With so much uncertainty about the lineups, it’s hard to make many bold predictions on this game. The legal sports betting sites in New Jersey have made Denver a three-point favorite, which is a bit low if Doncic and Porzingis are held out of action again. If those two play then the spread from these basketball betting sites in New Jersey are more than fair. I do think either way it will be a close game with Denver having to deal with some fatigue from the travel back from Memphis, so I’m taking +170 odds on the Nuggets to win by 10 points or fewer at the NBA betting sites in New Jersey.

My Prediction

Denver -3 points

It’s easy to look at the negatives about this game for the Nuggets. They played Friday in Memphis and now have to fly home where Dallas is likely already waiting after playing in Oklahoma City on Thursday. But the Nuggets have won five straight and they are playing with a lot of confidence right now. Given the uncertainty around Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis, I’ll ride with the Nuggets winning a sixth straight game.
