Diamondbacks vs Dodgers Week 8
Diamondbacks vs Dodgers MLB betting predictions

Just one spot separates Arizona and Los Angeles from 4th and 3rd place in the NL West but the two teams seem worlds apart. The Dodgers are 24-18 and 2 games out of first and the Diamondbacks, who are in 4th place in the division, are 7 games under .500 at 18-25 as of Wednesday. Trevor Bauer (4-2) Dodger RHP takes the hill against RHP Riley Smith (1-3) Thursday night. Don’t break a sweat in this one, take the Dodgers at home to win.

Diamondbacks vs Dodgers betting odds

Monday, a player with more career HR than Willie Mays at 667, joined the Dodgers. Albert Pujols, long time Cardinal, then an Angel for nine seasons, put on his first blue hat in the bigs Monday at his presser, donning the Dodger blue. Pujols gets to stay in L.A. but will now play in Chavez Ravine, home of the defending World Series Champs.

“I’m here to do whatever. Pinch hit, first base, whatever they want,” said the newest Dodger acquisition. Pujols, a former MVP and 10 time All-Star selection, will be a great weapon for the Dodgers to have coming off the bench.

Thursday night in the aforementioned Chavez Ravine Dodger Stadium, the Champs send Trevor Bauer 4-2 on the season with a 2.20 ERA and an outstanding 0.75 WHIP, to face off against the struggling Diamondbacks. Lots of Dodgers data here for NJ approved sports betting sites fans Bauer in 9 starts has pitched 57 ⅓ innings and is 4th in the bigs with 77 K’s on the year. Bauer is 3-0 at home this year with an exceptional 0.90 ERA. Bauer is going about 6 ⅓ this year in his starts and the Dodgers bullpen has the league’s 7th lowest ERA at 3.61. I don’t expect this one to be close enough for a save opportunity, but if there is one for L.A., Kenley Jansen has 8 saves with a 1.13 WHIP and a 1.53 ERA and 6 home saves in ‘21.

On offense L.A. really challenges opposing teams and leads MLB in On Base % at .349. The Dodgers are 3rd in runs scored with 217. 3B Justin Turner continues to rake at the plate for L.A. and leads his team with a .296 average, 23 RBI and 42 hits. 1B Max Muncy leads the club with a .436 OBP and 8 HR.

For the visiting Diamondbacks injuries continue to pile up as Wednesday they added 2 starters, RHP Taylor Weidner and veteran LHP Madison Bumgarner to a growing IR which already includes starters J.B. Bukauskas, Luke Weaver and Zac Gallen and 3B slugger Asdrubal Cabrera who leads the D-Backs with a .289 average, and a .393 OBP.

Thursday Diamondbacks manager Torrey Lovullo will call on RHP Riley Smith, 1-3 on the year with a 6.83 ERA and A 1.69 WHIP to try and stop the world champs. Smith is 0-1 on the road this year with a 5.06 ERA. Smith has 8 appearances in ‘21 with 5 starts and has thrown a total of 47 ⅓ innings pitched. We can expect him to go about 5 innings as a starter. The Diamondbacks bullpen has been bad so far this year and has the league’s 3rd highest ERA and WHIP at 5.53 and 1.58 respectively. The D-Backs pen also ranks 3rd highest in hits allowed as a pen with 179 on the year.

At the bat I mentioned Cabrera is on the IR, left in the line-up for Arizona is 3B Eduardo Escobar who leads the team with 11 HR and 28 RBI and LF David Peralta who has 40 team-leading hits. The Diamondbacks 196 runs rank 9th in MLB.

No need to overthink this match-up and this one is easy, I pick the Dodgers to win at home.

My Prediction

The Dodgers win behind Trevor Bauer.

Mac hails from Kenosha, WI, and at age 11 was hooked into the universe of sports betting by correcting the local newspapers' weekly football pool. In the wild, Mac can be found playing catch with his kid, golfing, or watching sports like baseball, the PGA Tour, the NBA, MMA, or any other sport (most likely with a beer in hand). While Mac is officially a Green Bay Packers stockholder, he takes no responsibility for the Packer's recent playoff failures. A copywriter for 9 years, Mac is thrilled to provide his predictions and insights for usalegalbetting.com. Once asked if he could choose to have a beer with any athlete in history, living or dead he answered, "I'd definitely choose someone living."
