Dodgers vs Brewers MLB Betting Predictions

MLB Dodgers vs Brewers Week 5
Dodgers vs Brewers MLB Betting Predictions

The L.A. Dodgers behind RHP Trevor Bauer (3-0) and his 0.66 WHIP take on the Brewers and LHP Eric Lauer who hasn’t pitched for the Brewers since 2020. Lauer is a last minute change for manager Craig Counsell as injury caused a staff shuffle so look for the L.A. to get a win on the road in game one in Milwaukee. I pick the Dodgers to win.

Dodgers vs Brewers Betting Odds

Baseball can be a constant merry-go-round for managers. Take the Brewers Craig Counsell who after starter Zack Godley went out with a finger injury Wednesday in a loss to Miami, was forced to move back his starters one day which means Freddy Peralta will pitch Friday and 25 year old Eric Lauer, who hasn’t pitched since 2020, gets the start against the defending World Series Champions Dodgers.

The home team Brew Crew will hope to get a few good innings from their young lefty Lauer who suffered a shoulder injury in 2020 and pitched only 11 innings for Milwaukee. In 2 seasons with the Padres Lauer had 52 starts and a 4.40 ERA. This spring Lauer wasn’t ready to make the team’s roster, by accuracy or velocity, so the Brewers optioned him to one of their training facilities but now they throw him to the wolves, wolves dressed as L.A. Dodgers. Expect Counsell to have a very short leash for Lauer on Thursday.

For L.A. the rich got richer in the off season and so Thursday they will send out Trevor Bauer who was likely the best free agent acquisition of ‘21. The world champs now have yet another ace on their staff and Bauer is 3-0 with a 2.35 ERA and an excellent 0.66 WHIP.

The Brewers who are 14-10 on the season sit atop the NL Central. At the plate Brewers manager Craig Counsell has relied on timely hitting combined with great pitching so far this season. No one Brewers player stands out although Catcher Omar Narvaez leads the Crew with 22 hits and a .379 BA. For Counsell runs are at a premium, superstar outfielder Christain Yellich is still day to day out with a nagging low back injury. Travis Shaw returned to the Crew this season after a one year stint with Toronto and has 17 RBI.

Los Angeles 3B Justin Turner continues to rake, he is 4th in MLB in RBI with 19 and is hitting .341 with 5 HR and a 1.032 OPS. Frankly the entire Dodgers’ line-up looks like an all-star team on offense; 1B Muncy has a .455 OBP, SS Seager and LF Taylor each have 4 HR and OPS over .800. This Dodgers team leads the league in on Base % at .344 and is near the top in every offensive statistical category. It is tough for me to look at this line-up with this pitching staff and ever predict the Dodgers to lose. Playing .600 baseball is rare for a full season in MLB but is it possible for the Dodgers to not play .600 ball? Every night they send out an ace and with their line-up healthy can you even spot a potential loss?

So if you’re betting with NJ online sportsbooks this one should be rather obvious. With Bauer taking the hill against Lauer, who is a complete question mark, don’t bet against the Dodgers, and add the fact that Yellich is out and with the Brewers inconsistent offense of late, I just don’t think the home team Brew Crew are going to be able to squeak out enough offense to stay with L.A. The Dodgers have it all right now, the offense and the pitching. I pick the Dodgers to win this one on the road in Brew City.

My Prediction

The Dodgers win on the road in Milwaukee.

Mac hails from Kenosha, WI, and at age 11 was hooked into the universe of sports betting by correcting the local newspapers' weekly football pool. In the wild, Mac can be found playing catch with his kid, golfing, or watching sports like baseball, the PGA Tour, the NBA, MMA, or any other sport (most likely with a beer in hand). While Mac is officially a Green Bay Packers stockholder, he takes no responsibility for the Packer's recent playoff failures. A copywriter for 9 years, Mac is thrilled to provide his predictions and insights for usalegalbetting.com.
