Marlins vs Giants MLB Betting Predictions

Marlins vs Giants Week 4
Marlins vs Giants betting predictions MLB

The hometown Giants behind LHP Alex Wood (1-0) host Don Mattingly’s Miami Marlins and RHP Sandy Alcantara (0-1). The Giants are hoping to keep pace with their division rival Dodgers (good luck) and Mattingly and his Marlins hope to make the playoffs for the 2nd consecutive season. Wood won in Miami last week and I like the Giants to win this one at home.

Marlins vs Giants Betting Odds

Donny Baseball and his Miami Marlins had some success in 2020 as Mattingly’s team made the postseason for the first time for their skip’s in 6 years in Miami. As of Thursday his Marlins were 8-9 and have leaned on their pitching staff and a .207 BA against and 1.13 WHIP in their wins so far this season. Mattingly will call on right hander Sandy Alcantara who has been underwhelming in his 4 ‘21 starts going 0-1 although he does have a strong .93 WHIP.

Equally underwhelming have been the Miami bats so far in 2021. Frankly, there is not much worth mentioning so far but the Marlins have gotten good production out of the 1st Base position platooning slugger Jesus Aguilar and Garret Cooper who have knocked in 18 RBI collectively. Second year 2B Jazz Chisholm has shown great promise this season and is batting .326 with a 1.069 OPS and he could be a budding superstar for the Marlins.

For the home team Giants, 2nd year manager Gabe Kapler calls on LHP Alex Wood who, if you’re looking for betting lines for the Marlins vs Giants take note that Wood, in one ‘21 appearance, has a 1-0 record in 5 IP and has yielded no runs with a .60 WHIP. Wood returned to the Giants last week starting against these very same Marlins in Miami and could be an occasional starter for the Giants as he is, as of now, the team’s only lefty in the starting rotation.

The Giants early success this season has them 11-7 but they likely have no shot at winning the division vs the Dodgers. Still, the playoffs are a realistic goal for Kapler and S.F.

When the Giants are at the plate they (like the Marlins) have relied on the first base spot this season as well and platoon Darin Ruf who is slugging an impressive .650 and Brandon Belt. Together the two have combined for 6 HR. Veterain third baseman Evan Longoria leads the Giants in HR 4, SLG % .582 and has 9 RBIs for San Francisco. The Giants lead the Majors in Home Runs this season with 26 round trippers so far in the ‘21 season. I’ll be shocked if the Giants end up leading the majors in HR though, who can hit the ball out when it is 58 degrees every night at home?

These early season inter-divisional games can be tricky to pick, still, I like the fact that Wood had success against the Marlins last Sunday and I expect that the Giants, behind Wood, will get a win Friday evening. Bet on the Giants to win.

Mac hails from Kenosha, WI, and at age 11 was hooked into the universe of sports betting by correcting the local newspapers' weekly football pool. In the wild, Mac can be found playing catch with his kid, golfing, or watching sports like baseball, the PGA Tour, the NBA, MMA, or any other sport (most likely with a beer in hand). While Mac is officially a Green Bay Packers stockholder, he takes no responsibility for the Packer's recent playoff failures. A copywriter for 9 years, Mac is thrilled to provide his predictions and insights for usalegalbetting.com. Once asked if he could choose to have a beer with any athlete in history, living or dead he answered, "I'd definitely choose someone living."
