Rangers vs Angels MLB Betting Predictions

Rangers vs Angels Week 4
Rangers vs Angels betting predictions MLB

It’s 4-20 in California and the Angels send out 2-way sensation RHP Shohei Ohtani (0-0) as they host the Rangers and RHP Julian Lyles (1-0). The Angeles and manager Joe Madden are high on their hopes for Ohtani in ‘21 and are looking to establish dominance against a division rival. I expect to see Ohtari outduel Lyles and the Angels to get to the Rangers bullpen early. I pick the Angels to win.

Rangers vs Angels Betting Odds

That buzz inside Angel Stadium this season isn’t from traffic on the 5 Freeway. It’s for 2-way starter Japanese born Shohei Ohtari who will be pitching and hitting DH Tuesday in the Big A as the Angels host West Division rival the Texas Rangers (first pitch 6:38 local).

“He’s everything we thought he could be,” said 2nd year Angels manager Joe Maddon of his phenom RHP following his last outing. Ohtani who is now healthy in 2021 is finally getting his wish of playing 2 ways. “He throws it 100 (mph)…hits it well over 400 feet.” Madden has said he has faith in Ohtani and that he needs to play “without a lot of limitations.”

Ohtani (0-0) with one start in 2021 will get a chance to earn his first win of the season against Rangers RHP Jordan Lyles who is 1-0 in 3 starts. On offense, Ohtani has continued his prowess at the plate which he has shown since coming to the Majors in 2018. He is hitting .333, with 4 dingers and 12 RBI batting second in front of Angels slugger Mike Trout. Trout touts a 1.276 OPS and a OBP of .526 both 2nd among all players in MLB.

It is so far so good for the Angels and Madden this season, they are 8-5 and in 2nd place in the AL West. L.A. comes in well rested as NJ online sportsbooks will note, the Angels played their first game Monday in 3 days as 3 of 4 games against the Twins were cancelled (thanks again COVID19) following a Twins outbreak.

Turning to the Texas Rangers, 3rd year manager Chris Woodward has an uphill battle to climb as the Rangers finished last in the AL West in 2020. He will look to Lyles who has a win in three starts in 15 ⅓ IP with a 4.70 ERA. For Texas on offense first year Rangers 1B Nate Lowe has 16 RBI and 4 HR (although he is hitting just .230). The rest of the Rangers have been so far underwhelming in the ‘21 campaign both on offense and defense. As a team the Rangers rank outside of the top 10 in every major offensive and defensive category this season.

But if you’re looking how to bet on MLB in NJ, you should know Ohtani has exceptional stuff. He runs his fastball up over 100 mph and compliments it with a filthy slider that made the White Sox sluggers look like minor leaguers in Ohtani’s only ‘21 start last week. Maddon often speaks of energy and when Ohtani takes the mound he seems to bring a higher energy level for Los Angeles. On Tuesday, I think the Angels and Ohtani will be more than Texas can handle – take The Angels to win.

Mac hails from Kenosha, WI, and at age 11 was hooked into the universe of sports betting by correcting the local newspapers' weekly football pool. In the wild, Mac can be found playing catch with his kid, golfing, or watching sports like baseball, the PGA Tour, the NBA, MMA, or any other sport (most likely with a beer in hand). While Mac is officially a Green Bay Packers stockholder, he takes no responsibility for the Packer's recent playoff failures. A copywriter for 9 years, Mac is thrilled to provide his predictions and insights for usalegalbetting.com. Once asked if he could choose to have a beer with any athlete in history, living or dead he answered, "I'd definitely choose someone living."
