Philadelphia 76ers vs. Phoenix Suns Betting Predictions

76ers vs Suns NBA
Philadelphia vs. Phoenix, NBA Betting Predictions, April 21

This is going to be an exciting matchup for basketball fans as two of the NBA’s best teams square off in Philadelphia. The Philadelphia 76ers had a four-game winning streak snapped last time out while the Phoenix Suns ride into Philly as winners of 12 of their last 14 games. The Suns should again prove they are legitimate with another statement win on the road.

76ers vs. Suns Betting Odds

Wednesday’s game between the Phoenix Suns and Philadelphia 76ers in Philadelphia is one of those matchups that should excite NBA fans around the country. The 76ers have surged into the top seed in the Eastern Conference, yet they are still two full games behind the Suns, who come to Philadelphia as the second seed in the Western Conference. The Suns have won 12 of their last 14 games and sit just a game and a half behind Utah in the Western Conference. The 76ers had their four-game winning streak snapped Monday and are now 7-3 in 10 games in April.

The Suns were the story of the bubble last summer as they went unbeaten after the restart only to just miss the playoffs. They responded this season with one of the best seasons in recent memory behind the emergence of Devin Booker and resurgence of Chris Paul. Booker is averaging 25.4 points per game this season and is just two weeks removed from a stretch of four consecutive games with at least 30 points. Booker’s improvement can be tied to Paul, who is averaging nearly nine assists per game this season in addition to 15.7 points per game. It’s the most assists Paul has averaged in four seasons, buoyed by the fact he’s had at least 10 assists four times in the last six games.

Philadelphia has excelled under Doc Rivers, but the 76ers are facing lineup concerns heading into Wednesday’s matchup. Ben Simmons, a frontrunner for the Defensive Player of the Year award, missed Monday’s game with a non-COVID illness and Tobias Harris has missed the last two games with a knee injury. The loss of Simmons was noticeable as Steph Curry went off 49 points and 10 3-pointers in Monday’s game. A similar performance might be in store if Simmons isn’t there to slow down Booker. As good as Joel Embiid has been this season – he’s averaging 29.9 points and 11.2 rebounds per game in 39 games this season – he’ll need help if the 76ers are going to beat the Suns.

There are several great betting opportunities at the legal sports betting sites in New Jersey on this matchup. We start with the game itself where the Suns are just one-point favorites at the basketball betting sites in New Jersey. With so much uncertainty around the 76ers lineup, I expect the Suns to take advantage of Philadelphia trying to heal for the postseason. I’m being aggressive and betting on Phoenix laying 5.5 points at +160 odds.

Where I expect things to get interesting is with the player-specific wagers on this game at the NBA betting sites in New Jersey. As I mentioned earlier, Chris Paul has had double-digit assists in four of his last six games, and I expect that trend to continue, so I’m betting on Paul to have 10 or more assists in a Suns victory at +330 odds. I’ll double down on that by also betting on Devin Booker to score at least 25 points in a Phoenix win at +210 odds as well as Booker to score at least 30 in a victory at +370 odds.

My Prediction

Phoenix Moneyline

I’m surprised the Philadelphia 76ers are not home favorites, but I’m glad the sportsbooks didn’t underestimate the Phoenix Suns. The combination of Chris Paul and Devin Booker is sensational, and it has opened the door for Deandre Ayton to emerge as a post threat. I think the Suns will give the 76ers a lot of trouble and be able to continue this road trip with another strong win over one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.
