Brooklyn Nets vs. Phoenix Suns Betting Predictions

Nets vs Suns NBA
Brooklyn vs. Phoenix, NBA Betting Predictions, April 25

It will be an interesting battle Sunday when the Brooklyn Nets host the Phoenix Suns in a clash of two of the best teams in the NBA. The Nets have alternated wins and losses over the last nine games, but have ascended into the top spot in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, the Suns lost Thursday in Boston, but still have won 13 of their last 16 games, which is good enough form to beat the inconsistent Nets on the road.

Nets vs. Suns Betting Odds

The Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns meet in what some may perceive as a potential NBA Finals preview on Sunday at the Barclays Center. The Nets have sputtered their way into the top spot in the Eastern Conference having alternated wins and losses over the past nine games. Meanwhile, the Suns sit a strong second in the Western Conference and have won 13 of their last 16 contests despite coming off a loss in Boston on Thursday.

Brooklyn is expected to have Kevin Durant in the lineup for Sunday’s game, giving them that second superstar next to Kyrie Irving. It remains to be seen how much that thigh injury will affect Durant, but both he and Irving are averaging more than 27 points per game this season. The challenge will again be on players like Joe Harris and Jeff Green to step up to provide the secondary scoring and defense required to slow down a team like the Suns. As good as Brooklyn is offensively, the defense can be kind of a concern at times as the Nets rank in the middle to lower third of the NBA in both defensive statistics.

Meanwhile, we’ve seen the revival of the Suns offense behind Chris Paul and Devin Booker, but the key development for Sunday’s game might be Deandre Ayton. The third-year center is averaging 15 points and 10.7 rebounds per game, which might be less than what he averaged last season but he’s been far more efficient this year. He can play a large role against the guard-oriented Nets, who have also lost much of their depth on the frontline due to injury. The other major question for the Suns is if Booker is going to snap out of his slump from behind the arc. Booker has scored 20 points in just two of his last six games and he’s made just five of his last 28 attempts from 3-point range. Those will need to change if the Suns are going to keep pace with the Nets.

Phoenix is again underrated by the legal sports betting sites in New Jersey, which is why they list Brooklyn as two-point favorites at home. However, the Suns are a team that find any way necessary to win games, and they have the fourth-best 3-point defense in the league. Will it be enough to stop the Nets? No, but it should slow down Brooklyn enough that I’m going to bet on Phoenix to win at the basketball betting sites in New Jersey. I’ll start by heading to the alternate lines and betting on the Suns laying 5.5 points for +210 odds at the NBA betting sites in New Jersey. Then I’ll head over to the player-specific bets and look at the three stars of the Suns, and project them all to bring their A game against this super team. I’ll start with Chris Paul having 10 assists in a Phoenix win for +360 odds, then I’ll add on Devin Booker scoring at least 25 points in the victory at +240 odds before ending with Deandre Ayton securing at least 12 rebounds in a mild upset for +340 odds.

My Prediction

Phoenix Moneyline

The fact Brooklyn is a favorite at home despite alternating wins and losses over the last nine games is a testament to the Nets’ star power. Phoenix plays fundamental team basketball and has a rising star in its own right in Devin Booker. The inconsistency in the Nets’ game is troublesome as is the fact they haven’t been anyone with a better record than the Knicks’ 33-27 mark in more than two months. The Suns should win and do so easily.
