New Orleans Pelicans vs Orlando Magic Regular Season NBA
New Orleans Pelicans vs. Orlando Magic Betting Predictions

The Orlando Magic have already clinched their spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs, the question is whether they can push into the seventh seed. The New Orleans Pelicans have fallen out of playoff position in the bubble with losses in three of their first four games. Recent form might dictate who finishes their regular season on a high note in the bubble.

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Orlando Magic Betting Odds

This is the final game for the Orlando Magic to control their own destiny in the race for the seventh seed out East. Orlando has beaten both teams with losing records it has played in the NBA bubble, but lost to all three teams it has played with winning records.

The New Orleans Pelicans fall in the first category as they struggle to hold onto their own postseason hopes. New Orleans has lost three of its first four games in the bubble to drop down to 13th place in the Western Conference. It might be two games out of the ninth seed and the playoff play-in games, but there are four teams between the Pelicans and that spot.

Slightly surprising is how poor New Orleans has played with Zion Williamson on the floor. The rookie center has certainly put up offense in bunches in the bubble, but he’s been in the negatives in the plus-minus in three of the four games. He was a minus just three times in 19 games in the regular season and never worse than -7. He’s been in the double-digits negatives in those three games, unsurprisingly all New Orleans losses.

Meanwhile, Orlando has found ways to take advantage of its matchups when they are present, dominating the Nets and Kings, two teams it should beat. The Magic have had their struggles against the top-end of the Eastern Conference as expected, but when they’ve needed to play well against weaker teams they have done so.

In their two wins, the Magic shot better than 50 percent from the field in both games – something it didn’t do in either of their two defeats. Those two wins weren’t pictures of great defense, either, but they’re comfortable in a shootout, and when the shots fall, they make them count.

I’d expect the New Jersey online sports betting sites would favor the Magic in this game due to their recent form. However, the contest might not play into Orlando’s desire to score points and turn the game into a high-scoring affair. The Pelicans will be desperate for a win and they’re best recipe for winning is good defense.

It remains to be seen if New Orleans can score enough points to win without sacrificing a little bit on the defensive end. When the Pelicans get sloppy, the Magic will make them pay and end the “regular season” on a strong note with a big win.
