Gonzaga vs Baylor Betting Predictions NCAA Tournament – By Teddy McIntyre

Gonzaga vs Baylor NCAA Tournament Final
Gonzaga (1) vs Baylor (1), betting predictions, NCAA Basketball

Gonzaga looks to be the first team in 45 seasons to be perfect and not lose a game all season. The Bulldogs take on Bryce Drew’s Baylor Bears – a team with the athleticism and ability to play with the Zags. The Bulldogs lead the NCAA in offensive efficiency and the Bears are first in the Nation in 3 point shooting percentage. I like Baylor +4.5 and I like Gonzaga to win it all in a close game that could come down to another buzzer beater.

Team vs Team Betting Odds

“He’s got a magical aura,” said Zags coach Mark Few of freshman guard Jalen Suggs after his last second miracle 3 point shot in overtime slammed off the backboard and through the hoop for the Zags win maintaining Gonzaga’s perfect season and thrusting them into the NCAA final. It seems like magic can happen when you watch the NCAAs and Suggs’ shot was surely one of those magical moments. The Gonzaga vs UCLA Final Four game will certainly go down in history as one of the tournament’s all-time great games – it was a true joy to watch.

You know the Zags stars, Sophomore forward Drew Timmy had 25 to lead the Zags, Junior guard Joel Ayayi had 22 and All-American Senior forward Corey Kispert added 15 although struggling uncharacteristically from three shooting 2-8 from behind the arc. But how will they fare against Baylor?

Looking at some of the player specials for the final, I like one march madness prop bet: [Sugar House] player points has Drew Timme at -113 under 22.5 and I think Baylor will look to lock down the Zags rising star with size and athleticism and so I like this play.

As for the Bears, Baylor seems to be getting better and better. In the final 4 game vs Houston (the Midwest 2 seed) the Bears were in turbo mode early and the game was over by halftime. At the break Baylor led by 25 points and actually seemed to step off of the gas in the final 20 minutes cruising to an easy 19 point win 59-78. The more I see coach Bryce Drew’s Bears, the more I like them. They are big, fast, supremely talented and they bomb 3 pointers as if they are shooting lay-ups. The Bears hit 45.8% from three vs the Cougars Saturday afternoon.

Junior guard Jared Butler led the Bears with 17 points on 4-5 three-point shooting adding 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Guards Davion Mitchell and MiCio Teague added 12 and 11 points and the Baylor bench pumped in 32 points with junior guard Matt Mayer scoring 12 and Johnathan Tchamwa’s 11.

How will the Championship play out? Gonzaga’s ability to move the ball and work for lay-ups is their biggest strategic weapon. For Baylor, they will need to continue their hot shooting from three point range and I have no reason to think they will slow down. For this reason (and that they can likely lockdown on defense and slow the Zags) you might like the [888sports] moneyline bet: Baylor +165.

In Monday’s Final I see Baylor having an energy advantage (as they didn’t play into overtime late Saturday night), I think they will attack the boards for second chance shots and keep this one close ‘till the end. But Gonzag’s team play and ability to execute will be the difference maker and the Zags win in a close one that goes down to the final possessions. Baylor +4.5 ATS as the Gonzaga Bulldogs win and achieve perfection.
