Michigan vs Florida St Betting Predictions NCAA Tournament

Florida State vs Michigan Sweet 16
Michigan (1) vs Florida St(12) betting predictions NCAA Basketball

Michigan is a team that seems to have all the right pieces while finishing first in the Big 10 regular season but they are the only Big 10 team left. Florida St has the size and the touch from 3 point range to keep the game close and I love the length of this giant Seminoles team. I like Florida State to win and love them ATS +3.5 (888sport).

Michigan vs Florida State Betting Odds

Less than two weeks ago Michigan head coach Juwan Howard was apparently ready to come to blows before half-time against Maryland coach Mark Turgeon. Now Howard and his Wolverines are fighting for their tournament lives and the hopes of an apparently overrated Big 10 conference, which was given 9 tournament births and has only Michigan left in the NCAA. What’s worse for Michigan is that they are without star and co-captain senior forward 6’7” Isaiah Livers who is out of the line-up with a stress fracture in his foot. His absence effectively leaves Michigan with 7 players and seven isn’t likely to be enough against the enormous Florida State Seminoles.

The Seminoles, who finished 2nd in the ACC, boast an 18-6 record and a starting line-up that averages 6’8”. The team’s length and pace of play have been key to their wins all season long and for coach Leonard Hamilton who uses his team’s size and athleticism to get easy outside shots against their smaller opponents. And Florida State can light it up from downtown as they shoot 38.2 percent from three point range which is 16th in the NCAA. The Seminoles grab 37 rebounds per game and block 5.1 shots per game (10th in the nation) and these pieces make up the puzzle likely to confuse the Wolverines.

Can Michigan handle Florida State? Two weeks ago I would have said “yes.” But, team by team the Big 10 has been taken down and so who did Michigan really play all season long? Thoughts like this and that Livers’ absence means that they are thin off the bench has me loving Florida State ATS at +3.5 (888sport).

Big ifs. If Michigan can avoid foul trouble and if it can grab enough offensive rebounds to score second chance points and if it can have a great shooting night (which is possible as Michigan is 10th in the NCAA from 3 point range at 38.5 percent). If all of these things happen then Michigan can win. But in my opinion, these are too many ifs and the biggest if is Florida State. So, if you are up for it, I like the moneyline bet as Sugarhouse is paying out +124 for a Seminoles win.

My Prediction

Florida St +3.5 ATS. The Big 10 will likely lose its last hope as Florida St moves on to the round of 8.

Mac hails from Kenosha, WI, and at age 11 was hooked into the universe of sports betting by correcting the local newspapers' weekly football pool. In the wild, Mac can be found playing catch with his kid, golfing, or watching sports like baseball, the PGA Tour, the NBA, MMA, or any other sport (most likely with a beer in hand). While Mac is officially a Green Bay Packers stockholder, he takes no responsibility for the Packer's recent playoff failures. A copywriter for 9 years, Mac is thrilled to provide his predictions and insights for usalegalbetting.com. Once asked if he could choose to have a beer with any athlete in history, living or dead he answered, "I'd definitely choose someone living."
