USC vs Gonzaga Betting Predictions NCAA Tournament

USC vs Gonzaga Elite 8
USC (6) vs Gonzaga (1), betting predictions, NCAA Basketball

Top seeded Gonzaga battles USC. The USC zone will offer a new challenge to Gonzaga but do the Trojans have the horses to pull off the shocker upset win against the Zags? The way I see it the Bulldogs will zig and Zag their way upcourt and past the USC zone ‘D’. I think Gonzaga advances to the final 4 and I like both Gonzaga ATS at -9 and the over 153.5.

USC vs Gonzaga Betting Odds

Crazy. That’s what I would’ve thought if someone had told me at the beginning of this NCAA season that Gonzaga would have a chance to win the Tourney and be the first undefeated team since the 1976 Indiana Hosiers to not lose a single game. It’s not that Gonzaga doesn’t have the talent and Mark Few is a great head coach, but going undefeated is so improbable and this year has played out so strangely (with all of the Covid schedule disruptions) that being undefeated is just so unlikely. Still, if you’d have told me the whole world would be walking around with masks on, I’d have thought that was crazy too. So maybe the Gonzaga Bulldogs can win it all going undefeated!

Gonzaga leads the nation in offensive efficiency and scores 91.8 ppg. The Bulldogs push the ball upcourt and use chaotic speed to simply outscore their opponents. Sophomore forward Drew Timme, pumps in 18.9 ppg and 7.2 rpg and leads the NCAA tourney in swagger. At times he seems to be channeling former Zag Adam Morrison (maybe it’s the hair). Guard Jalen Suggs 14.1 ppg, 4.3 assists and 5.3 rpg is the fuel for the Zags engine and Kispert (a Wooden award finalist) leads the team with 19 ppg. If you’re looking for a March Madness betting tip, the easiest play of the day might be the moneyline at 888sports: Gonzaga -435 and this in my opinion is easy money.

As for the Trojans of USC, they continue to surprise as a 6 seed beating conference rival Oregon 82-68 in the Sweet 16 round. Their zone defense has caused opponents problems as in the NCAA tourney teams are averaging just 58.3 ppg against head coach Andy Enfield’s Trojans. Twin Tower brothers 7 foot freshman Evan Mobley and his senior older brother 6’10” Isaiah dominate inside and grab 16.1 rpg between them and score 25.9 ppg together. Senior guard Tahj Eaddy adds 13.7 ppg and leads the team with 2.8 apg. And if you want a throwback, just watch guard Isaiah White who shoots the truest set-shot since Bob Cousey played guard for the Cincinnati Royals. The Trojans offensive output in the tourney and the Zags have me liking the over at 153.5 (SugarHouse)

If you are betting on march madness, the Zags have run the score up vs good defenses this year and averaged 96.5 ppg against ranked teams in the 2020-21 campaign. (888sports) has them at -9 and I like this play.

Mac hails from Kenosha, WI, and at age 11 was hooked into the universe of sports betting by correcting the local newspapers' weekly football pool. In the wild, Mac can be found playing catch with his kid, golfing, or watching sports like baseball, the PGA Tour, the NBA, MMA, or any other sport (most likely with a beer in hand). While Mac is officially a Green Bay Packers stockholder, he takes no responsibility for the Packer's recent playoff failures. A copywriter for 9 years, Mac is thrilled to provide his predictions and insights for usalegalbetting.com. Once asked if he could choose to have a beer with any athlete in history, living or dead he answered, "I'd definitely choose someone living."
