The Las Vegas Raiders have had a week off to stew on their big win in Kansas City two weeks ago, but the challenge continues with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming to town. Tampa Bay had a big win of its own last week in dismantling Green Bay to help restart its momentum after the loss in Chicago. It will be a fascinating battle in Las Vegas this week, but it’s hard to not pick the better quarterback and Tampa Bay this week. Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Las Vegas Raiders Betting Odds Tampa Bay should gain a lot of confidence from its win last week over Green Bay, especially after the dud in Chicago. It was the first time we saw the Buccaneers’ fantastic defense take over a game against a good offense, which gave Tom Brady the ability to pick apart the Packers defense. Brady should have a chance to be equally as efficient against this Raiders defense and help spread the ball around to his receivers. This will also be a fantastic chance to establish the running game with Ronald Jones II to help Brady even more. It all starts though with a defense that is in the top 10 in both points and yards allowed, and has allowed 20 points or fewer in four of its last five games. Tampa Bay has 22 sacks and 11 takeaways so far this season, which has helped set up Brady and the offense in excellent field position to do some damage. Last we saw the Raiders, they outscored the Chiefs in Kansas City to snap a two-game skid and emerge as a playoff contender in the AFC. The offense returned to form after two quieter weeks, though the defense still showed some holes against a good offense. The defense hasn’t held back the Raiders yet this year, but that doesn’t hide the fact Las Vegas is in the bottom quarter of the league in points allowed and yards allowed this season. The Raiders’ three takeaways are the third fewest in the NFL and Las Vegas has allowed a league-worst 10 rushing touchdowns. That doesn’t bode well against a Tampa Bay team that is starting to find its rhythm on the ground. It will be up to Derek Carr and the offense to continue to put up points. It starts with Josh Jacobs against the league’s best rushing defense and trying to gain yards against Tampa Bay, which also ranks as the league’s best in yards allowed per game. Unless the Raiders defense improved during the bye week, Tampa Bay should be able to score this week. The Buccaneers’ offense found a new gear in the second half against Green Bay last week and should be able to exploit some of the weaknesses in the Las Vegas defense. The Raiders have also allowed 30 points or more in four of their five games, so it makes it an easy bet to take Tampa Bay to score more than 27 points at -116 odds at the New Jersey online sports betting sites. The bigger question is how will Carr and the Raiders perform against this Buccaneers defense that seems to only be improving as the season progresses. The total for Las Vegas is set at 25.5 points, which is slightly too high for me in this situation. I’ll take the Raiders to score fewer than 25.5 points at -108 odds against this top-level defense. Buccaneers to win Tampa Bay is only three-point favorites, which makes sense given how well both of these teams played in their last games. However, the Raiders still gave up 32 points to the Chiefs while the Buccaneers shut out the high-scoring Packers in the final three quarters last week. Tampa Bay’s defense is playing at a much higher level than Las Vegas’ right now and the Buccaneers’ offense is probably slightly better than the Raiders’ as well. The Raiders will give the Buccaneers a good fight for most of the game, but I still think Tampa Bay pulls away at the end. I’m going to double the spread and take Tampa Bay laying 6.5 points for +170 odds at the NFL betting sites in New Jersey.
