The Cincinnati Bengals have been on the precipice of winning the past few weeks. Cincinnati almost won in Week 1, came up just short in Week 2 and tied with the Eagles last week, so the Bengals are far more competitive than they were last season. Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Jaguars were blown out last week against Miami and has little time to regroup. It’ll be a tight one, but this might be the time for Joe Burrow’s first win in the NFL. Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Cincinnati Bengals Betting Odds The Jacksonville Jaguars began the season with an upset win over Indianapolis then nearly clipped the Titans in Week 2. Yet their performance last week against Miami has left most people confused about the direction of this team. It was by far Jacksonville’s worst offensive performance of the season, and it came against the worst of the three defenses it has played. Gardner Minshew threw for just 275 yards and an interception in 42 attempts while the Jaguars’ rushing attack was non-existent aside from a pair of James Robinson rushing scores. The Jaguars’ defense stiffened in the final three quarters, but not after allowing the Dolphins to march down the field for touchdowns on their first three possessions. Cincinnati has been competitive in all three of its contests even if the Bengals have yet to win any of those contests. They probably should have beaten the Chargers in the opener and they almost beat Philadelphia in regulation last week before surrendering a late touchdown. Joe Burrow has been excellent the last two weeks with consecutive 300-yard passing performances and five touchdown throws without a single interception. His protection hasn’t been great as he’s already been sacked 14 times, and that could be an issue against an aggressive Jacksonville defense. Cincinnati has defended the pass well this season, which is how Jacksonville will want to attack the field, but the Bengals need to be much better against the run as they are one of the worst teams in the league in rushing defense. I think this game is set up to be a high-scoring contest, which should surpass the 49.5 points set as the over/under in this game. After watching how Miami was able to carve up the Jacksonville defense early, the Bengals will find ways to use Joe Burrow’s athleticism to their advantage and push the ball down the field. The Jaguars will rely on Robinson a lot more to gash the Bengals front seven, and it will create a back-and-forth contest. I think both teams could score on four or five drives, so I’m going out on a limb with these NFL betting predictions. I’ll bet on the over 53.5 points in this game at +155 odds. Cincinnati Bengals to win This game will be close enough that I won’t even mess around with the spreads set by the NFL betting sites in New Jersey. Cincinnati is a three-point favorite, but these two teams are evenly matched enough that there is actual value in betting on the moneyline for this game. The Jaguars are a pass-oriented offense, but probably need to focus more on the ground game against Cincinnati, which has struggled against the run this season. The Bengals, though, have always seemed to be in position to make the game interesting with Burrow at quarterback, and I think he can deliver a big win for the franchise, so I’ll bet on the Bengals at -156 odds on the moneyline at the New Jersey online sports betting sites.
