New York Jets vs. Kansas City Chiefs Betting Predictions

There might not be a bigger mismatch in the NFL this season than the Kansas City Chiefs hosting the New York Jets on Sunday. The winless Jets have been pathetic in all facets, but especially on offense after gaining just four yards in the second half last week. I don’t need to remind anyone of how potent the Chiefs offense is with Patrick Mahomes, so this game won’t be very close and everyone knows it.

New York Jets vs. Kansas City Chiefs Betting Predictions Betting Odds

There is no offense worse in the NFL this season than the New York Jets’ unit. They rank last in points, last in yards and last in passing yards this year and there is little reason to believe that will change anytime soon. You can blame the weapons around Sam Darnold all you want, but Darnold isn’t completing 60 percent of his passes and he’s thrown twice as many interceptions as touchdowns. He’s been sacked 18 times and it’s just been miserable to watch this Jets offense try to operate. The defense is slightly better and did an excellent job keeping New York in the game last week against Buffalo, but this is a very stiff challenge coming this week and the Jets will struggle to contain the Chiefs’ many weapons.

Kansas City put on a wonderful display in last week’s rout of Denver even though the stats were lopsided in Denver’s favor. But the reason the Broncos had such a statistical edge was the Chiefs scored on defense and on special teams, keeping Mahomes and the powerful offense on the bench. The Broncos did an excellent job to limit the Chiefs to just one offensive touchdown on eight drives in the first three quarters, but the Jets’ defense is not nearly as talented as Denver’s unit. By bigger concern for Mahomes in this game is that he won’t see the field much because Kansas City will again score on defense against this hapless Jets offense. Otherwise, I expect the Chiefs to move up and down the field at will against New York and pound them into submission.

The issue with betting on the points in this game is that it puts a lot of pressure on the Chiefs to score a boatload of points against an overmatched opponent. The easy wagers are to take the Jets to score less than 14 points at -108 odds and the Chiefs to score more than 34 points at -104 odds. But what about the 48 total points for the over/under at the New Jersey online sports betting sites? This game could easily end 41-7 or a lopsided score of that fashion, but the Chiefs will definitely be trying to run time off the clock by the time they get to scoring that many points. I don’t doubt Kansas City could score enough points to take the over on this wager, but I think this game sneaks just under 48 points, so I’ll take the under at -106 odds.

Chiefs to win

I was fascinated where this line was going to end up this week and the result even boggled my mind. The Chiefs are 20-point favorites over the Jets, and the worst part is that it still might be too generous to the Jets. Kansas City should win this game handily, which is why the Chiefs are -2500 on the moneyline to win this game, so the question becomes finding the right value at the NFL betting sites in New Jersey. All of the normal places I look for value fall well short of the odds on the spread itself, so I guess that’s where we’ll stick for this game. I’ll take the Chiefs laying 19.5 points at -105 odds because there isn’t much value on the board for this game.
