The injuries have finally caught up to the San Francisco 49ers it seems as the defending NFC champions were blown out by the Dolphins at home for their second straight loss. San Francisco could not get anything going on offense and were decimated through the air on defense, posing a major challenge this week. The Los Angeles Rams come to San Francisco full of confidence after a decisive win over Washington, and that should be enough to earn them the victory. Los Angeles Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers Betting Odds The Los Angeles Rams team that appeared in the Super Bowl just two short years ago is back as Jared Goff has bounced back from a rough 2019 season. The Aaron Donald-led defense has made marked improvement as well as the Rams look like the biggest challenge to Seattle in the NFC West this season. The emergence of Darrell Henderson and Malcolm Brown as a running back tandem has added a balance to the offense that was missing last season. And Goff has been better at finding other receivers even if he hones in on Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods a lot still. Meanwhile, the defense has again shown its teeth after allowing just 108 yards to Washington last week and 295 yards to the Giants the week before. Those might not be the most potent offenses, for sure, but it’s a sign of how much confidence Los Angeles is playing with on that side of the ball. It was a rough return to action for Jimmy Garoppolo last week, who still looked to be hobbled a bit by the high ankle sprain. He’ll likely start again for San Francisco this week, but if it still inhibits him during the game, don’t be shocked to see the 49ers bench him again in the middle of the game. Either way, the 49ers offense has been broken this season with the injuries to the running back trio as well as Garoppolo. It was at its worst last week against Miami when San Francisco gained just 259 yards and earned just 19 first downs. All the while, the 49ers allowed 342 passing yards as the Dolphins just picked apart the defense in the first half. The injuries on the defense are far worse than the offense’s woes, and it has crippled a championship-level defense and made it unrecognizable with so many backups forced into starting roles. The New Jersey online sports betting sites have set the points total for the 49ers way too high in this matchup at 24.5 points. In three previous home games – all losses – San Francisco hasn’t scored more than 20 points and the only time the 49ers have scored more than 24 points this season was against the two New York teams that are a combined 0-10 this year. Meanwhile, the Rams have kept four of their five opponents under 20 points, so I’ll hammer down on the under 24.5 points for the 49ers at -116 odds. I don’t have a good read on how many points the Rams will score, but I do think the 51.5 total points is too high for this game. So I’m going to use an alternate total and bet under 44.5 points at +230 odds for the game. Rams to win The Rams are only three-point favorites to win this week, which is showing the 49ers a lot of respect in this matchup. San Francisco’s only wins have come against the listless Giants and Jets, and the 49ers weren’t challenged in those games. The Rams have proven to be a resilient bunch this season and both sides of the ball have looked far superior to San Francisco. I’m going very bold with this NFL betting prediction because I feel this is a bigger mismatch than the NFL betting sites in New Jersey are representing on the line. I’m taking the Rams laying 10.5 points at +250 odds and taking the +300 odds on Los Angeles to win by at least 14 points.
