The Philadelphia Eagles are still in contention in the lackluster NFC East, but that has nothing to do with their level of play. The Eagles have lost four of their last six with both wins coming over divisional rivals. Seattle has had some recent struggles, too, but at least those came against potential playoff teams. The Seahawks will get some relief with a game against the fraught Eagles. Seahawks vs. Eagles Betting Odds Seattle’s hopes this season have been pinned on its defense continuing to make the drastic improvements it has made in the past two weeks. The Seahawks were being shredded by almost every team on their schedule, but had survived thanks to Russell Wilson and the offense. Seattle lost three out of four coming off its bye week when Wilson began to have turnover problems, and the defense just couldn’t stop anyone. Yet last week, Seattle made big strides in containing Kyler Murray and held the Cardinals to just 21 points in a big win. That meant the Seahawks allowed 23 and 21 points in consecutive weeks as they head into a matchup with Philadelphia, whose offense is arguably the worst Seattle has faced all season. With Wilson taking care of the football and the running game finding its legs after some injuries in the backfield, the Seahawks seem poised to outgun the Eagles. This has been a nightmare season for Carson Wentz and the Eagles as the quarterback has struggled mightily all season. He’s thrown a league-worst 14 interceptions in 10 games, and he’s thrown multiple picks in six games. He’s also fumbled the ball 10 times, losing four of them, and led the Eagles to just 22 points per game, which ranks 24th in the NFL. Simply put, it’s been a disaster on offense for the Eagles as they have the third most turnovers in the league and rank second-to-last by scoring on just 29.4 percent of drives. The saving grace has been a mediocre division that has handed them two of their three wins and kept them alive for a playoff spot somehow. The Eagles are in the middle of the pack defensively, but I struggle to figure out how much of that has to do with the lackluster opposition and how much of that is Philadelphia’s actual talent. This game against Seattle will help in determining that given the Seahawks’ plethora of weapons in the passing game. The NFL betting sites in New Jersey have made some interesting choices with their over/under lines for this game. The Eagles haven’t scored more than 23 points in the last four games and their over/under was set at 22.5 points. That is way too high given how this offense is operating at the moment, so I’ll easily take the under 22.5 points at -106 odds for the Eagles. The Seahawks’ individual line is at 27.5 points, but instead of looking at Seattle’s line, I’m going to look at the overall game’s over/under for this next bet. The sites set that number at 50.5, which again is based on the Eagles offense outperforming its recent form. Seattle is going to score points, but it likely won’t be enough to hit the 50.5 threshold. Instead, I’m betting on the under 44.5 total points at +180 odds as the Seahawks win comfortably. Seahawks to win I was honestly shocked to see the Seahawks were only five-point favorites at the New Jersey online sports betting sites given the trajectory of these two teams. The Eagles have looked terrible since their bye week with losses to the Giants and Browns in which Wentz really struggled. Meanwhile, Seattle has still looked explosive on offense through its struggles, and finally showed off an improved defense the last two weeks. That improvement on the defensive side should be more than enough to snuff out the Eagles’ declining offense, but this offense is still going to be clicking. Seattle is the most complete passing team the Eagles have faced all season, and the fact Philadelphia rank 6th in passing defense has more to do with the competition it has faced more than anything else. The Eagles won’t be able to match up with the Seahawks, so Seattle will cruise and I’ll bet the Seahawks laying 13.5 points at +230 odds in this Monday night showdown.
