UFC action returns to Las Vegas this weekend with UFC Fight Night 187. Angela Hill vs Ashley Yoder will be a featured strawweight bout. Hill has opened as the betting favorite despite being on a two-fight losing streak. Yoder is fresh off a victory, but she’s less experienced in the UFC and might not be able to contend with Hill’s striking prowess.
Angela Hill is set to take on Angela Hill this weekend on the main card for UFC Fight Night 187. Hill has opened as the betting favorite, but she’s riding a two-fight losing streak. The last time we saw Hill, she lost against Michelle Waterson via a split decision. She closed as the betting favorite leading up to that fight but was the underdog in her loss against Claudia Gadelha before her fight with Waterson. The best NJ sports betting sites have Hill as a significant favorite, but MMA predictions and the top UFC betting sites argue that Yoder could be an excellent dark horse pick this weekend. Yoder last fought in November 2020, winning against Miranda Granger. What’s noteworthy about Yoder is that she already lost to Hill back in 2017, which is most likely why oddsmakers favor Hill by a significant margin. All of Yoder’s UFC fights have gone down to a decision, which is both good and bad since it signals that she hasn’t been knocked out, but she’s not knocking out anybody out either. On the other hand, Hill has earned victories via KO/TKO and submission. The NJ online sportsbook review has listed moneyline odds for this bout, and if you want to bank on Hill, her best odds are on 888sport, where she’s listed at -357. I’m going to bet on Hill for this one, but her moneyline odds don’t present much value. Fanduel offers a double chance market of Hill winning by either KO/TKO or submission at odds of +370. I’m not entirely sold on Hill’s ability to pressure her opponents, but she’s more likely to win by either method above than Yoder is. And that’s where the betting value is.
Yoder’s been disappointing so far in the UFC, which is why sportsbooks are giving her much credit. Hill’s been decent, and she’s a more versatile fighter, so I like her chances to beat Yoder for a second time. My prediction: Hill wins by submission in the 3rd round.
