The Ultimate Fighting Championship is back, this time coming to you off the coast of Abu Dhabi. UFC 251: Usman Vs Masvidal will take place on Yas Island in the United Arab Emirates, as Dana White’s fight island finally comes to fruition. The Legendary Aldo is currently being listed as a significant underdog which might tempt a few, but our Petr Yan vs Jose Aldo Betting Predictions for UFC 251 will show you why this underdog bet won’t pay off.
We’ve got three title fights packed in the main card including Petr Yan vs Jose Aldo for the vacated Bantamweight title. Kamaru Usman vs Jorge Masvidal will serve as the main event for UFC 251 with the featherweight title between Alexander Volkanovski vs Max Holloway serving as the co-main event. Check out our reviews for those title fights here. An underdog bet on a former world champion who used to be one of the most dominant P4P fighters in the UFC roster is a tempting bet to make especially with online sports betting operators like 888sport and Sugar House listing Aldo as a +200 underdog. But I would steer clear of that bet as I don’t see a ton of value there. I also predict an Aldo loss which you can read more of below. A bet with the better value is to bet on the fight going the distance. Currently, 888sport and Sugar House have the fight going the distance as a +130 underdog. This may have to do with how the fights have been trending since the restart of the UFC after the pandemic hit, as a greater percentage of fights have been stopped than ever before. But I personally think this fight will go to the scorecards.
It’s always hard to see when legends start to fade. With Jose Aldo it all started with that 13-second knockout in the hands of then featherweight, Conor Mcgregor. Since that loss in 2015, Aldo has posted an unconvincing 3-4 record after only losing one fight in his first 26 professional fights. Petr Yan meanwhile has posted an undefeated record since entering the UFC but at only 27 he has less than half the professional fights that Aldo has amassed and is just about to enter his peak athletic years. A very scary prospect for the rest of the division as Yan has already shown that he has the right tools to find long-term success in the weight class
