Everyone’s favorite trash-talking Irish fighter, Conor McGregor, is making his comeback to the ring in a lightweight bout against Dustin Poirier. McGregor’s been away from the ring for a year, but he’s opened as the betting favorite. Poirier is in great form, winning four of his last five fights but McGregor looks poised to win the rematch.
Dustin Poirier vs Conor McGregor is the main event for UFC 257 on January 23, 2021. The lightweight bout marks Conor McGregor’s return to the ring after announcing retirement in 2020. The last time we saw “The Fighting Irish,” he laid out Donald Cerrone, better recognized as “Cowboy,” in the first round with a flurry of head punches. That was a year ago, and now McGregor looks to remind people why he’s one of the best MMA fighters of all time. Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier won’t be an easy opponent for McGregor, though. The Louisiana native is in great form with a 5-1 record in his last six UFC competitions. Poirier has also seen the ring more recently than McGregor, winning his fight against dan Hooker via unanimous decision on June 27, 2020. The highly anticipated rematch between the lightweights has been in the making since September 2014. McGregor won their first meeting by KO/TKO in the first round. Will the trash-talking warrior win again? Top sites in NJ for online sports betting and the best UFC betting sites like McGregor to win the rematch. MMA predictions give McGregor the edge, but sportsbooks aren’t offering good value as he’s the favorite by a large margin. NJ online sportsbook reviews have a list of the best odds for each fighter, but if you’re going to ride with the Irishman, you’re better off looking at BetMGM’s odds, which have McGregor as a -278 favorite over FanDuel, who has him at -310. There’s excellent betting value if you go with Poirier, who has the hitting power to go toe-to-toe with McGregor, but I just don’t think he’ll beat win. McGregor’s 74” reach is difficult for most opponents to overcome. It’ll be a scrappy bout, and it won’t go the distance. I think McGregor wins by KO/TKO in the second round. If you take that bet on FanDuel, you’ll get better value at +460 over BetMGM’s listing of +400. Hate him or love him, I recommend betting on the notorious trash-talker for UFC 257.
Conor McGregor is fresh off of an impressive victory, and although it was a year ago, I think he catches Poirier off-guard. Poirier is also fresh off a win, and even though sportsbooks are offering great value on him, I think McGregor has the edge for this fight. My prediction: McGregor KO/TKO in the 2nd round.
