The third title bout for UFC 259 will be fought between Petr Yan vs Aljamain Sterling for the bantamweight title. Oddsmakers are giving this fight the coin-toss treatments as bought fighters are reasonably even in terms of betting odds. It should be an excellent outing from Sterling, but Yan is the titleholder, so I’ll bank on him to defend his title.
The bantamweight class is slated for an appearance on UFC 259 as Petr Yan vs Aljamain Sterling step into the octagon for a title bout. Petr Yan is the reigning champion and will be looking to defend his title for the first time against a worthy opponent in Sterling. This bantamweight showdown features two fighters with different skillsets and fighting styles. While Sterling is an excellent wrestler, Yan relies more on his skills as a striker to attain victory. Yan’s been fantastic in the UFC and has lost just once in his professional MMA career. Sterling has also been excellent and could very well snatch the crown from Yan this weekend. Sterling’s riding a five-fight winning streak, with his last victory coming against Corey Sandhagen via submission. Sterling will need to take this fight to the floor if he hopes to win, and to do that, he’ll have to get past Yan’s onslaught of strikes in the first round. Fanduel has the best moneyline odds for Petr Yan, where he’s listed at -110. If you want to take it a step further, you can also take Yan to finish Sterling by KO/TKO in any round at odds of +290.
It’s a tough fight to predict, but I’m counting on Yan to defend his title and finish Sterling early on. He may be in trouble if he ends up on the mat, but Yan’s striking will be too much for Sterling to handle. My prediction: Yan wins by KO/TKO in the 2nd round.
