Betfred Sportsbook’s PA Launch – Online Version Coming Soon

Right on schedule, Pennsylvania has welcomed its latest sportsbook.  After announcing the opening of the Betfred Land-Based sportsbook at the Keystone State’s Wind Creek Bethlehem Casino back in June, the sportsbook threw open its doors on November 21 after final testing with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) had been completed.

Sports fans aged 21 and over can now place wagers on their favorite sporting teams at the Wind Creek Bethlehem sportsbook. The endeavor is a first for Wind Creek and a third sportsbook venture into a U.S. land-based casino for Betfred after recently opening their operations at Saratoga Casino in Blackhawk, Colorado and Grand Falls Casino and Golf Resort in Larchwood, Iowa.

The opening of the Betfred Pennsylvania land-based sportsbook site officially highlights the landmark deal between Wind Creek and Betfred that the two companies signed back in January. Betfred’s bricks-and-mortar sportsbook launch is expected to be followed in the coming weeks by the launch of their PA online sportsbook. Plans initially called for the online sportsbook to launch first, however, some bureaucratic hurdles had to be overcome.

Wind Creek entered the online gaming market firstly in late July with the launch of their Wind Creek online casino, powered by Pala Interactive software.

Betfred’s online gaming software partner, Scientific Games, already powers Caesars sportsbook in Pennsylvania.

What are the features of Betfred’s Wind Creek Sportsbook?

The new Wind Creek Bethlehem Betfred Sportsbook features two state-of-the-art video walls, three betting windows, eight self-service betting kiosks, and 31 individual televisions. Several comfortable viewing areas are included and a sports bar for food, drink and refreshments. Fans of Wind Creek Bethlehem will be able to see that the sportsbook now takes up the space that was previously occupied by Buddy V’s Ristorante.

Great excitement for the Betfred – Wind Creek Partnership

Betfred USA Sports Chief Operating Officer Bryan Bennett said that they could not be happier about their partnership with Wind Creek and are extremely excited with this launch of what is their third US-based sportsbook in just a single year.

Mr. Bennett added, “Pennsylvania is a massive sports betting market and that we are looking forward to helping Wind Creek Bethlehem become a go-to destination for sports bettors.”

Wind Creek Hospitality and Betfred USA Sports held a gala grand opening for invited guests to formally introduce the sportsbook to the Pennsylvanian sports wagering market.
“Opening the sportsbook at Wind Creek Bethlehem provides yet another exciting gaming opportunity for our guests,” Jay Dorris, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wind Creek Hospitality, said in a prepared media release.

“Partnering with Betfred USA Sports will allow us to bring a first-class sports betting experience in a high energy environment to the property” he said.

Who are Betfred?

British gaming fans know Betfred well as one of the biggest retail (more than 1500 shops!) and online sportsbook operators in the United Kingdom. The company brings with them more than 50 years of experience into the Pennsylvanian sports wagering marketplace.

Originally founded by U.K. brothers Peter and Fred Done in 1967, Betfred Group’s U.S. operations have been based out of Las Vegas, Nevada since 2019. There are more states to come, however for now, Betfred now has operations in Iowa, Pennsylvania and Colorado, where Betfred is already a licensed partner of the Denver Broncos. Betfred Nevada is pending approval for the sportsbook specialist to begin their operations there soon. A land-based sportsbook at Vegas’ Virgin Hotels is earmarked to begin with.

Pennsylvania’s sports bettors should be able to begin using the Betfred online sportsbook by the time the NFL play-offs begin and the big college football Bowl Games commence.
