The New York Senate did not include iGaming in its budget proposal released on Monday evening. Sen. Joseph P. Addabbo Jr. (D-15) raised a proposal to legalize it earlier in the year, though he also said it would not progress if it wasn’t included in the budget.

D.C. Council member and chairman of the business and economic development committee, Kenyan R. McDuffie (I-At Large), said that the operator produced just over $4.3 million from the time it launched to the start of the new year, an underperformance of more than 95%.

The state opened with eight sportsbooks that are available to customers 21 or older anywhere inside state lines. This was after the sportsbooks were granted a 10-day window to pre-register customers, during which they could receive a variety of prizes that were boosted compared to traditional sign-up offers.

The bet was placed at Caesars Sportsbook for +750 odds, meaning that the longtime Texas resident will win $7.5 million if his hometown team can successfully navigate the single-elimination 64-team bracket. They are second or third in odds at most legal sportsbooks at the time of writing.

State Senators on Tuesday approved a constitutional amendment that would allow voters to decide the fate of sports betting at the November ballot. That came just one week after the Georgia Senate Economic Development and Tourism Committee advanced it in hopes of bringing sports betting to the eighth-most populated state.

Encore Boston Harbor was fined $40,000 by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) for allowing users to place bets on Boston College women’s basketball last year. That was the second time since July the casino was fined for the same infraction.

The company purchased PointsBet’s North American assets, including licenses, last year. As the license transfers were processed and the company was approved for launch, it's been able to slowly expand its reach across the country.

“We are continuing to make significant strides towards putting all the different pieces together and being prepared for the successful launch of sports and pari-mutuel wagering on March 11, which is not that far off,” North Carolina Lottery Commission Chair Ripley Rand said during a Wednesday meeting. 

The training wheels are completely off of the American gambling market. Although casinos have been legal for years, the rise of sports betting has brought the prevalence of all forms of gambling to the forefront of many Americans’ lives.
