Highlights

  • Jackson Chourio has a .412 OBP to start the season
  • Luis Campusano has a .400 batting average, five runs, one home run, and seven RBIs
  • Jack Flaherty did not walk a batter in his first start with the Tigers

The baseball fantasy season is finally here and promises to be one of the most exciting yet. While MLB DFS leagues run throughout the season, early-season leagues offer a great chance to capitalize on undervalued players and boost your bankroll.

Below, we will share the three undervalued players with our USA Legal Betting Experts in April. We’ll share the latest insights into each, as well as their current price at FanDuel.

Jackson Chourio – OF Milwaukee Brewers

Current price on FanDuel: $2,800

The Brewer's outfielder was one of the top prospects in baseball coming into this season, and he has shown why early on. The 20-year-old has excelled as Milwaukee’s leadoff hitter, posting a .375 batting average with three RBIs, one stolen base, and a .412 OBP. His ability to make contact was the biggest concern coming into the big leagues, but he hasn’t had any issues early on.

Chourio is not only delivering in batting average and OBP categories, but we expect his stolen base total to rise quickly. He’s fast and found success on the basepaths in the minors, stealing 44 bases in 2023 alone. It may take a little time for him to adjust to the big leagues, but we expect a spike in that total to come soon.

Luis Campusano – C San Diego Padres

Current Price on FanDuel: $3,100

DFS sites have slightly corrected Campusano’s price, but he is still delivering far above his current price. The catcher has been on fire to start the season, starting with a .400 batting average, five runs, one home run, and seven RBIs. While there are some questions about his ability to play the position, his bat makes him a valuable DFS choice.

One knock against Campusano is that he is batting towards the bottom of the Padres lineup. While he is still driving in runs, that could disappear if the middle of the lineup struggles. We think he is still well worth taking and expect him to get a bump up the lineup in the near future.

Jack Flaherty – SP Detroit Tigers

Current price at FanDuel: $9,000

Flaherty was one of the top pitching prospects in the league for the Cardinals, but a slew of injuries led to his ERA ballooning as he struggled to regain his control. The last three seasons have been ugly, but a fresh start with a new time could be just what Flaherty needed.

The 28-year-old looked great in spring training and kept that momentum rolling in his first start of the season. He allowed one run on four hits across six innings against the White Sox, striking out seven. It was the best he had looked in years, especially considering he didn’t walk a batter.

While we wish Flaherty were a bit cheaper, his upside makes the price well worth it. If his control is back, he can be as good as any starter in the league. While the Tigers’ lackluster offense may not lead to many wins for the pitcher, he can provide a major boost in ERA and strikeout categories in 2024.
