Los Angeles Dodgers

Odds to Win 2024 World Series: +375 at BetRivers Sportsbook

Nobody had a better offseason that the Los Angeles Dodgers, and their current price is too good to pass up. The team went 100-62 last season but were swept by the Diamondbacks in the divisional series. The Dodgers front office responded to the loss by making a flurry of moves in the offseason to build one of the most talented rosters in history.

The biggest prize of the offseason was MVP Shohei Ohtani. The league’s most talented player agreed to take over as the Dodgers DH and pitching once he is healed from injuries to last season. The team also added pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who is the most hyped Japanese star since Ohtani.

In addition to those two stars, the team also signed former Mariner Teoscar Hernandez. The outfielder is a big power hitting who finished with 26 home runs and 93 RBIs last season. He had the disadvantage of playing in the heart of a Seattle offense that struggled all season but will now have the security of hitting in the most impressive lineup in the league.

Baltimore Orioles

Odds to Win 2024 World Series: +1500 at FanDuel Sportsbook

If you are looking for a World Series pick with some more value, then the Orioles are the way to go. The young team broke out last season, going 101-61 and winning the ultra-competitive AL East. The division will be better this season, but the Orioles will return almost an identical lineup to the one they had last season, but with a year of experience under their belt.

The Baltimore offense is expected to be very good, but their pitching was a bit of a question mark last season. Kyle Radish was fantastic at the top of the rotation, with the fourth-lowest ERA in the league (2.83 ERA). After that was a young and exciting Grayson Rodriguez, who showed a lot of promise in his 2023 rookie campaign.

Now the team will have former Cy-Young winner Corbin Burnes (10-8, 3.39 ERA). The ace had a bit of a down season last year, but has been at a disadvantage over the last few years as he played for a Milwaukee team short on offense. With the Orioles impressive bats supporting him this season, we expect Burnes to shatter he season-high record for wins, which is currently just 12.

Chicago Cubs

Odds to Win 2024 World Series: +3000 at BetMGM Sportsbook

The Cubs had a brutal start to 2023 but got hot and made a run at the NL Central title late in the season. The team has a young lineup that started to click into place as the season went along. They also saw starting pitcher Justin Steele have the best season of his young career, going 16-5 with a 3.06 ERA.  He and the young lineup will be back in 2024, giving them a big advantage in a weak NL Central.

Pitching will be a questions mark for the Cubbies. The signed Japanese pro Shota Imanaga who is expected to slot in behind Steele in the rotation. He will play a very important role as the rest of the Chicago rotation is a bit of a wild card. If Imanaga struggles, the Cubs may need to add another pitcher at the deadline.

The biggest reason we love this bet is Craig Counsell. The former Brewers skipper had made the team a powerhouse in the NL Central despite their mediocre payroll. Now he’ll be in a situation where he has a monster payroll while being with a franchise that is more appealing to free agents. He is a master tactician, and we think his new situation will lead to a World Series.
