Panelists and guests connected to sports teams and gambling entities at SBC Summit North America shared a consistent message: that micro-betting is picking up steam and will become a prominent fixture in sports betting very soon.

The University of Iowa announced Monday that 26 athletes across five sports and more than 100 people are believed to have placed sports bets against the terms presented by the governing body. Iowa State University revealed that it also believes 15 athletes across three sports are in the same boat.

The pro-sports betting crowd is supported by a coalition of owners and representatives of local professional sports teams, including the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Blues, and more. The group has been beating down lawmakers’ doors for more than a year but has been stymied at the crucial steps.

Alabama is one of 14 states that have not legalized sports betting in any form. Two states, Ohio and Massachusetts, that launched their respective sports betting markets this calendar year have enjoyed highly fruitful periods since.

The company is collaborating with accounting firm Ernst & Young (EY) to ensure that results of the matches cannot be prematurely leaked to the public. All WWE results are determined beforehand, meaning that the matches are effectively uncompetitive despite being branded as professional wrestling.

Three three figures in question are Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles, and Somerset Mayor Alan Keck. All agreed that sports betting’s increasing popularity has led to the rise of illegal gambling markets that the state should take control over.
