Matt Frevola vs Ottman Azaitar is one of three lightweight bouts for UFC 257 and should be just as entertaining as the other two. Oddsmakers have listed Ottman as the favorite, as the German has an undefeated record and has looked impressive in his UFC career so far. Frevola will be looking to win his third straight fight as an underdog.
The first of three Lightweight fights on the docket for UFC 257 will feature Matt Frevola and Ottman Azaitar. It won’t get the same press as the other two fights, but it should be an entertaining fight. Frevola and Azaitar have different fighting styles. Frevola is well-versed in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and has excellent grappling skills, while Azaitar is a swift fighter with great striking prowess. Frevola comes into this fight after winning back-to-back fights, but he hasn’t seen the ring since October 2019. He’s the underdog for this matchup, but it’s important to note that he was also the underdog in his last two victories as well. Azaitar is undefeated in his MMA career so far at 13-0 and has looked impressive n his two UFC bouts. He won both fights in the first round by KO/TKO and hasn’t won by decision since 2016. Frevola will need to do his best to avoid Azaitars strikes because if the “Bulldozer” connects with Frevola, it could end the fight sooner than Frevola would like. Azaitar’s an accurate striker, so Frevola needs to be decisive when it comes to his takedowns. NJ online sports betting sites have the German striker as the favorite, but MMA predictions and UFC betting predictions argue that Frevola might be the better bet. NJ online sportsbook reviews have odds for each fighter, but FanDuel has the best odds on the moneyline if you ride with Frevola at +136. Azaitar is definitely the safer bet since the German has looked absolutely dangerous in his last couple of fights, but Frevola has been the underdog and won out twice in a row now.
Azaitar may very well knock Frevola out in the first round. He’s that kind of fighter. From a betting perspective, though, I like Frevola to upset. If he can hold Azaitar off long enough and get him into a grapple, I think he can win. My prediction: Frevola wins by decision
