Out of the 35+ states and jurisdictions where online sports betting is legal, FanDuel Sportsbook is legal in 26. So, where is FanDuel sportsbook legal? According to Morning Consult, 73% of respondents were familiar with FanDuel Sportsbook, and 56% actually used it. This was only behind DraftKings Sportsbook. The brand first gained notoriety in the early 2010s with its daily fantasy sports platform and million-dollar contests. • May 2018 - Paddy Power Betfair and FanDuel Combine Forces: Paddy Power Betfair announced that it would acquire FanDuel. It contributed $158 million and merged its existing United States assets in the United States. The initial stakes were 61% percent, going to 80% and then a complete 100%. The merger was officially completed on July 11, 2018.
• May 2018 - PASPA Is Overturned: Established in 1992, the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act was overturned in May 2018 following the Murphy vs. National Collegiate Athletic Association. As a result of this case, the Supreme Court ruled that PASPA conflicted with the Tenth Amendment, thus essentially allowing sports betting to become legal so long as the states passed internal laws.
